Wild Lens
Terms of Use
These terms cover your use of the Wild Lens iPhone app and this website. Wild Lens is made by Luca Lupo (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using Wild Lens you agree to these terms and to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple EULA”). Where the two differ, these terms apply to the extent the Apple EULA allows.
Using Wild Lens
We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Wild Lens on Apple devices you own or control, for non-commercial purposes. Don’t copy, resell, reverse engineer or misuse the app or the data it shows, and don’t use it to harass wildlife or break the law.
Wild Lens Pro and subscriptions
- Wild Lens is free to try with a limited number of uses. Wild Lens Pro unlocks the full app and is available as a weekly subscription, a yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and may vary by country.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price and period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- If a plan includes a free trial, you’re charged when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Any unused part of a trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in Settings, your name, Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- We may change prices or features of Pro. Price changes for existing subscribers follow Apple’s rules and notices.
Wildlife data and accuracy
The sightings in Wild Lens come from iNaturalist observations made by its community, and from your device’s GPS and compass. They show where animals have been recorded, not where they are now. Labels, distances and directions can be wrong because of sensor error, magnetic interference, old records or misidentified observations. Species information and photos belong to their authors on iNaturalist and are shown under their own licences.
Stay safe out there
Wild Lens is a guide for curiosity, not a navigation or safety tool.
- Watch where you’re walking, and don’t use the app while driving.
- Keep a safe distance from wildlife and follow park rules. In US national parks that’s at least 100 yards (91 m) from bears and wolves and 25 yards (23 m) from other animals.
- Don’t follow labels onto private land, closed areas or off-trail terrain you aren’t prepared for.
- Don’t feed, approach or disturb animals, nests or dens.
You’re responsible for your own safety and choices outdoors.
Your content
Photos, notes and sightings you add stay on your device and remain yours. We don’t receive them unless you send them to us.
Disclaimers
Wild Lens is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties about the app, its data or its availability, including fitness for a particular purpose. We don’t guarantee you’ll see any animal.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for injury, loss or damage arising from your activities outdoors or reliance on the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Wild Lens in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be waived.
Ending use
You can stop using Wild Lens anytime by deleting it. We may suspend or end access if you break these terms.
Changes
We may update these terms. We’ll change the date above, and if the change is significant we’ll mention it in the app. Continuing to use Wild Lens after a change means you accept it.
